Vitamins Used

Vitamin C IV

Ascorbic acid is a water-soluble vitamin found in fruits and vegetables such as citrus fruits and green peppers. Ascorbic acid is a free radical, an antioxidant scavenger, and plays a major role in oxidation-reduction reactions. Ascorbic acid is a cofactor for enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of collagen (essential for tissue maintenance and repair), carnitine, and neurotransmitters. Humans cannot synthesize ascorbic acid endogenously and a lack of dietary intake can lead to scurvy. Vitamin C is most frequently used as a nutritional supplement, and has been used for a variety of ailments including the common cold, gum infections, acne, depression, fertility, and cancer; however, not all these claims have not been substantiated and vitamin C is not equivocally recommended for all these purposes. Recently there has been research coming out showing positive signs for high dose Vitamin C in the treatment of respiratory distress and as an adjunct in times of severe bodily stress. When taken by intravenous (IV) infusion, vitamin C can reach much higher levels in the blood than when it is taken by mouth.

Studies suggest that these higher levels of vitamin C can have beneficial effects for the body. Some of the more common conditions we have treated are the following:

  • Cold and Flu – Shortens both severity and duration of illness

  • Wound healing – Useful for post-cosmetic surgery cases

  • Depression – Vitamin C helps raise neurotransmitter levels

  • Fatigue – Revitalizes, boosts energy

  • Allergies – Vitamin C has antihistamine properties

We often encourage 1-4 g does in combination with our vitamin B IV's to provide a boost in effectiveness.

Glutathione Therapy

Glutathione is a strong antioxidant naturally produced by our bodies and is present in all mammalian tissues as the most abundant non-protein thiol that defends against oxidative stress. Glutathione IV supplementation serves to: strength our immune system, detoxify the body, protect cells, boost metabolism, and decrease inflammation. As age, our body beings to produce less glutathione and factors such as diet, illness, stress, and trauma can make produce even less. Glutathione therapy then works get your body back to optimal levels of glutathione.

Frequently asked questions

How does Glutathione Therapy work and what does it treat?

By getting your body’s glutathione levels back to optimal level, your body is better able to eliminate contaminants. On a chemical level, glutathione contains three different types of amino acids (or the building blocks of proteins) and healthy sulfurs. Because of that composition, glutathione attracts contaminants like heavy metals and toxins, then enhances the elimination of them. For treatment purposes, it can be used for any number of things. From getting the body back in balance to helping manage diseases like Alzheimer’s & Parkinson’s. In fact, because higher levels of glutathione help decrease inflammation, glutathione therapy can be used to help with: allergies, asthma, COPD, memory loss, and heart disease.

What is an IV therapy?

Intravenous therapy or IV therapy is the administration of liquid substances directly into a vein. It can be intermittent or continuous (a continuous administration is called an intravenous drip). The word intravenous means “within a vein” and is most commonly referred to as an IV. IV’s are the fastest way to deliver fluids and medications throughout the body. We know needles can be intimidating but our staff has the medical training to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

B Vitamins

Vitamin B12 deficiency can occur because of a poor diet, or because some medications interfere with absorption of B Vitamins. Some issues related to lack of B Vitamins are insufficient sleep, sleep apnea, chronic fatigue, and depression to name a few. Vitamin B12 is important for growth, cell reproduction, blood formation, and protein and tissue synthesis. Vitamin B12 shots effects lost around a week. Shots can be administered at home or in the office. Cyanocobalamin is the synthetic man-made form of vitamin B12, and due to its lower quality and potential ineffectiveness, we only use Methylcobalamin. This is an important distinction that anyone using B12 should ask their provider about.
